On Thursday August 30th FLOR threw a nice little party to meet a local inspiring designer in 11 of their stores across the country.
Of course, I couldn't have missed an opportunity to meet a real designer in person! Especially since our Dallas FLOR store got to meet Bonnee Sharp, the founder and owner of Studio Bon.
Prior to the event I've checked out Studio Bon's cool website and felt a great connection to Bonnee on a personal and design levels. After checking out every page I could immediately see Bonnee was a genuine, authentic, legit (if you will) type of designer. This is because she took her time and build her designs and studio in a very particular way. Only true designers at heart go through such lengths. Just look at her choice for the manufacturing process and you'll see that she had a very particular idea in mind and was doing whatever it takes to make sure the real thing matched her idea and it felt just right before making it final. Only true designers get this detail oriented about their creations. For Studio Bonn Every. Detail. Matters. All of this translates into a high quality design that will last a looong time.
And now, back to the party:
The store was sizzling with creative folk and yummy sodas. Unlike the usual store scene with display of mobile floor patterns, FLOR had their new unreleased patters out mixed in with Studio Bon textiles everywhere. The layout was well thought of. You have to understand that the Dallas FLOR store had to move to a temporary location and was working with very little space. Aside from cleverly solving the space issue FLOR had these awesome chocolate squares, among other snacks, that were different flavors and had different designs on every single one - two thumbs up for that!
Bonnee was busy meeting and chatting with everyone and then gave a presentation filled with slides. She covered everything - from her inspirations to how it all came together to where it is now.
The party wrapped up with a drawing for a chair covered in Studio Bon's pattern. A girl who is just about to move into a new place won that one. She was very happy (and lucky!). Another drawing was for a rug from FLOR! That's one awesome prize as well. Another lucky lady got that one. She screamed when her name was drawn :)
Now I'm wondering how amazing Studio Bon's patterns would look on silk - beautiful curtains or even sheets...so many opportunities. And that was my takeaway from the event - inspirations and opportunities for design everywhere.
Let's hope Dallas keeps on having more of these parties!
Don't forget to check out Studio Bon.
