2010 has been a great year packed to the brim with events! Let's take a look:
Christmas 2009 and New Year 2010 started for me in southern California with the most important people of my life - my mom, my dad, and my brother. The weather was sunny, warm, and nothing short of fabulous. We spent Xmas day on the beach eating some very tasty Italian ice cream and New Year's day celebrating at home.
Back in Dallas I had a fun packed dinner with local Couchsurfers followed by Dallas Star's game, Blackout party with Jackie and friends, and Cirque du Solei's Alegria performance - all in January. Also I found a dance partner for International Latin Ballroom competitions, which is so hard to find in Dallas. I hope that changes and Dallas ballroom community grows.
Lovely February brought tons of snow just in time for our annual Maslenitsa party that gets bigger and better every year. This time we had more than double the amount of people attending (despite the snowfall) and triple the amount of crapes (300 and counting). Ballroom with a Twist and Italian meetup at Vapiano's were some of the other awesome events.
March offered some relaxing time - dinner with friends, comedy clubs, movie watching, and a snow day on March 21st!!! In Dallas! Yes! It was unbelievable - first day of spring in Dallas and it's snowing. Party at Nickm's the same day AND met up with an old friend of mine - how amazing! All in one day!
April 1st was the perfect time to re-visit Comedy club at the Mockingbird station with great company of friends. I celebrated Easter back in California with my family just in time to be back for Oklahoma Broken Bow camping trip with 13 amazing people, and then Strictly Come Dancing showcase at Studio 22. April was a VERY busy month for me.
May - Iron Man 2 with friends before the release date (oh yes, I love my friends), filming Mary Kay's Your Way to Beautiful video, CUSP fashion show for a friend's MBA project, UTAustin graduation, and the birth of LucyRa.com.
June - watching Sleeping Beauty ballet performance at the Winspear Opera with friends and back to California for my brother's graduation. This month I visited the Reunion Tower for the first time for David's birthday and we had a blast celebrating. I've also started taking an online course for my certification in Project Management.
July - Canada Day celebration party at David's (another David), a very hot Shakespeare in the Park UTDallas alumni event, very tasty sushi dinner at Simon's sushi with a friend, and training course for work which pretty much doubles as a vacation for me.
August - my birthday month. For the first time in my life I got a pedicure done by someone other than myself at the Crescent spa and LOVED it! I won it earlier in the year and though my birthday month was a good time to redeem it. (I really recommend Crescent spa for pedicures. Get the private room if you can). August 8th - another performance at Studio 22 for Margarita Madness. Many of my friends came and I really truly had so much fun - thank you for your support! On August 13th I moved to a new apartment - thank God! No more water leaks, noisy neighbors, late night street noise, and poor lighting, just to name a few . Again I felt super lucky to have my friends who helped me move making the move possible in just a day. I was grateful beyond words... It felt very good to have friends around to help. But that's not all! On August 21 I attended my very first Black and White ball. The next day I flew out to New York for a week long much needed vacation. Back in Dallas my friend flew in for a few days from Denver for a visit.
September was spent on getting ready for Southwestern Invitational dance competition (my first competition ever). We practiced every single day and it payed off - we rank 93rd out of 1632 competing couples! :D Even though September was dedicated entirely to competition preparations I managed to carve out time to watch a few movies (The Town - one of my favorites), last pool party, friends birthdays and housewarming, Labor Day celebration at a friend's house, and hosting Addison Oktoberfest, whew!
October - many events at the Opera - Don Giovanni simulcast, Casablanca movie, Hotter than Hades Amici party. Pancake breakfast at my new apartment, studio 22 member appreciation dinner (much appreciated), wine tasting with InterNations, and of course Halloween.
November 6th was our third time this year to perform for November Showcase. Ohio Star Ball in Columbus, Ohio was a perfect excuse to take another trip and visit my friend Kim. Thanksgiving dinners and the one single time I watch TV during the year during my Victoria's Secret Fashion Show watching party wrapped up November.
And lastly December. The last month of the year. The highlights? Thai massage - my first ever! This one I also won at a yoga studio opening party. It's the best massage I've ever had. DEFINITELY go get one!!! Best friend of a best friend came in from Colorado and we went to lovely Gaia flow yoga holiday party :) To make the year end extra awesome
